# Dothan station

The **Dothan station**, also known as **Atlantic Coastline Railroad Passenger Depot**, is a historic [train station](/source/Train_station) in [Dothan, Alabama](/source/Dothan,_Alabama), United States. It was built in 1907 as the largest and busiest on the [Atlantic Coast Line Railroad](/source/Atlantic_Coast_Line_Railroad) between [Montgomery, Alabama](/source/Montgomery,_Alabama), and [Thomasville, Georgia](/source/Thomasville,_Georgia) and replaced a former freight depot. The Atlantic Coast Line merged with the [Seaboard Air Line Railroad](/source/Seaboard_Air_Line_Railroad) in 1967 to form the [Seaboard Coast Line Railroad](/source/Seaboard_Coast_Line_Railroad). In 1971, [Amtrak](/source/Amtrak) took over passenger rail service in the United States and Dothan station was served by the *[Floridian](/source/Floridian_(train,_1971%E2%80%931979))* until 1979.

The depot is two stories, with a one-story portion on the western third. The first story's [hipped roof](/source/Hipped_roof) wraps around the entire building, and has deep [eaves](/source/Eaves) supported by large [brackets](/source/Bracket_(architecture)). All windows are two-over-two [sashes](/source/Sash_window) with heavy granite [sills](/source/Window_sill) and [lintels](/source/Lintel). Double-leaf doors with [transoms](/source/Transom_(architectural)) led to the two waiting rooms. The track side has a projecting bay that served as the ticketing window.[3]

The station was listed on the [National Register of Historic Places](/source/National_Register_of_Historic_Places) in 1994.[1]
