# Dorasque language

**Dorasque** is an extinct [Chibchan language](/source/Chibchan_language) formerly spoken by the [Dorasque](/source/Dorasque_people) in the territory between the plains of [Barú](/source/Bar%C3%BA_District,_Chiriqu%C3%AD) and [Changuinola](/source/Changuinola_District) to the north, the banks of the [Chiriquí Viejo](/source/Chiriqu%C3%AD_Viejo_River) and Piedras rivers to the south, [Chiriquí](/source/Chiriqu%C3%AD_Province) to the east, and [Burica](/source/Punta_Burica_(Panama)) and [Térraba](/source/T%C3%A9rraba_River) to the west (between the present-day province of [Puntarenas](/source/Puntarenas_Province) in [Costa Rica](/source/Costa_Rica) and the western departments of [Panama](/source/Panama)).[1] Its dialects were **Chumulu** and **Gualaca**. It is closely related to [Chánguena](/source/Changuena_language) (Chánguina), which is considered by some authors to be variants of the same language.[2]
