# Donald Weekes

**Donald James Weekes** (8 May 1930 – 24 September 2013) was an English [cricketer](/source/Cricket). Weekes was a right-handed [batsman](/source/Batting_(cricket)) who bowled right-arm [fast](/source/Fast_bowling). He was born at [Horsham](/source/Horsham), [Sussex](/source/Sussex).

Weekes made a single [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) appearance for [Sussex](/source/Sussex_County_Cricket_Club) against [Oxford University](/source/Oxford_University_Cricket_Club) at [University Parks, Oxford](/source/University_Parks) in 1952.[1] In a drawn match, he bowled a total of six wicketless [overs](/source/Over_(cricket)), while in his only batting innings he was dismissed for a [duck](/source/Duck_(cricket)) by [Henry Joynt](/source/Henry_Joynt).[2] This was his only major appearance for Sussex.

His uncle was the [West Indian](/source/West_Indies_cricket_team) [Test](/source/Test_cricket) cricketer Sir [Everton Weekes](/source/Everton_Weekes), while his father-in-law, [Leonard Bates](/source/Leonard_Bates), played first-class cricket for [Warwickshire](/source/Warwickshire_County_Cricket_Club).

Donald Weekes died in [Bromley](/source/Bromley), London on 24 September 2013, at the age of 83.[3]
