# Donald Geisler

**Donald David "Donnie" von Geisler III**[1] (born October 6, 1977) is a retired [Filipino](/source/Philippines) [taekwondo](/source/Taekwondo) athlete of [German-American](/source/German_Americans) descent, who represented the [Philippines](/source/Philippines_at_the_Olympics) in the [Summer Olympic Games](/source/Summer_Olympic_Games) in the years [2000](/source/Taekwondo_at_the_2000_Summer_Olympics) and [2004](/source/Taekwondo_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics). He is a [1998 Asian Games](/source/1998_Asian_Games) and World Cup Taekwondo Silver medalist, and won a gold medal for the men's lightweight division at the [2005 Southeast Asian Games](/source/2005_Southeast_Asian_Games) held in [Pasay](/source/Pasay), Philippines before his retirement.[2]

## Early years

Geisler started playing taekwondo at the age of seven. He was trained by a Korean trainer at school where he developed his skills for the sport.[citation needed]
