'''Donald Osmund Oslear''' (3 March 1929 – 10 May 2018) was a [Test](/source/Test_cricket) [cricket umpire](/source/Umpire_(cricket)) from England.

Don Oslear was born in [Cleethorpes](/source/Cleethorpes), [Lincolnshire](/source/Lincolnshire), England, in 1929 and joined the [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) panel in 1975 at the age of 46 without any first-class playing experience.  He stood in five [Test matches](/source/Test_(cricket)) between 1980 and 1984 and eight [One Day International](/source/One_Day_International)s, including a semi-final of the [1983 World Cup](/source/1983_Cricket_World_Cup).<ref name="Cricinfo">{{Cite web|url=http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/18268.html |title=Donald Oslear |accessdate=16 May 2014 |work=ESPN Cricinfo}}</ref> He umpired 360 first-class matches between 1975 and 1993.<ref>{{cite web|title=Don Oslear as Umpire in First-Class Matches|url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/9/9587/Umpire_in_First-Class_Matches.html|website=CricketArchive|accessdate=9 February 2018}}</ref> Alongside [John Holder](/source/John_Holder_(umpire)), he is credited with the idea of a '[bowl-out](/source/bowl-out)' to decide a drawn match after the 55-over 1987 Tilcon Trophy final had been washed out by rain. The organisers had ordered them to think of another way of settling the match rather than the traditional and sometimes unpopular means of the toss of a coin.
