Don Finto started his ministry as a missionary in [Germany](/source/Germany). Upon return to the [United States](/source/United_States), he began teaching [German](/source/German_language) at [Lipscomb University](/source/Lipscomb_University) in [Nashville, Tennessee](/source/Nashville%2C_Tennessee) and preaching at the Una [Church of Christ](/source/Churches_of_Christ) while earning his Ph.D. from [Vanderbilt](/source/Vanderbilt_University).<ref>{{cite web|last=Choate|first=J. Under his leadership, the church grew and left the Churches of Christ background. The church saw attendance from many among the [music industry](/source/music_industry) in [Nashville, Tennessee](/source/Nashville%2C_Tennessee), including [Amy Grant](/source/Amy_Grant) and [Michael W. Smith](/source/Michael_W._Smith). Finto retired from the pulpit in 1996 to found Caleb Company, an organization focused on the empowerment of youth.
