# Dogfan

**Dogfan**, also known as *Doewan*, was a [saint](/source/Saint) and [martyr](/source/Martyr) who lived in 5th century [Wales](/source/Wales).[1] He is venerated in the [Anglican Church](/source/Church_of_England), [Eastern Orthodox Church](/source/Eastern_Orthodox_Church), [True Orthodox Church](/source/True_Orthodox_Church), and [Roman Catholic Church](/source/Roman_Catholic_Church), on 13 July.

## Family

He is the [patron saint](/source/Patron_saint) of [Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant](/source/Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant) in [Wales](/source/Wales). The town may have been the birthplace of his mother.[2] He was also one of the sons of king [Brychan](/source/Brychan).[3]

## Martyrdom

He is said to have been put to death by [Anglo-Saxon](/source/Anglo-Saxon) heathen invaders in [Pembrokeshire](/source/Pembrokeshire), where a church was built to his memory.[4]
