**Harold Ray** "**Doc**" **Daugherty** (October 12, 1927 – August 15, 2015) was an American professional [baseball](/source/Baseball) player and [manager](/source/Manager_(baseball)), and [high school](/source/High_school) [football](/source/American_football) [head coach](/source/Coach_(sport)). A [shortstop](/source/Shortstop) in [minor league baseball](/source/Minor_league_baseball), he made one appearance as a [pinch hitter](/source/Pinch_hitter) in the [Major Leagues](/source/Major_League_Baseball) for the [Detroit Tigers](/source/Detroit_Tigers) in 1951.[1]

A native of [Weirton, West Virginia](/source/Weirton,_West_Virginia), Daugherty attended [Ohio State University](/source/Ohio_State_University), where he played football. After his baseball playing career ended, he became a teacher and coach in [West Virginia](/source/West_Virginia) and [Ohio](/source/Ohio), and also managed the Short Season-Class A [Duluth–Superior Dukes](/source/Duluth%E2%80%93Superior_Dukes) for the 1965 season.
