**Dobbin Bay** is an [Arctic](/source/Arctic) waterway in the [Qikiqtaaluk Region](/source/Qikiqtaaluk_Region), [Nunavut](/source/Nunavut), Canada. It is located in the [Kane Basin](/source/Kane_Basin), [Nares Strait](/source/Nares_Strait) by eastern [Ellesmere Island](/source/Ellesmere_Island), south of the [Darling Peninsula](/source/Darling_Peninsula).

## Exploration

During the [British Arctic Expedition](/source/British_Arctic_Expedition) of 1875 under [George Nares](/source/George_Nares), ancient [cairns](/source/Cairn) were found on [Washington Irving Island](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Washington_Irving_Island&action=edit&redlink=1) ([79°34′N 73°00′W / 79.567°N 73.000°W / 79.567; -73.000 (Washington Irving Island)](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Dobbin_Bay&params=79_34_N_73_00_W_region:CA-NU_type:waterbody_scale:500000&title=Washington+Irving+Island)[2]), located in the mouth of the bay.[3]

The area was also explored by [Adolphus Greely](/source/Adolphus_Greely) during his [Lady Franklin Bay Expedition](/source/Lady_Franklin_Bay_Expedition) of 1881–1884.[4]
