***Discourse Processes*** is a bimonthly [peer-reviewed](/source/Peer-review) multidisciplinary [academic journal](/source/Academic_journal) covering the study of [discourse](/source/Discourse) from the perspective of [sociology](/source/Sociology), [psychology](/source/Psychology), and other disciplines. It was founded in 1977, with Roy Freedle as the founding [editor-in-chief](/source/Editor-in-chief).[1] It is published by [Routledge](/source/Routledge) on behalf of the [Society for Text and Discourse](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Society_for_Text_and_Discourse&action=edit&redlink=1), of which it is the official journal.[2] The current [editor-in-chief](/source/Editor-in-chief) is David N. Rapp ([Northwestern University](/source/Northwestern_University)). According to the *[Journal Citation Reports](/source/Journal_Citation_Reports)*, the journal has a 2016 [impact factor](/source/Impact_factor) of 2.074, ranking it 17th out of 58 journals in the category "Educational Psychology (social science)"[3] and 39th out of 84 journals in the category "Experimental Psychology (social science)".[4]
