**Dion John Conroy** (born 11 December 1995) is an English professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [defender](/source/Defender_(association_football)) for club [Crawley Town](/source/Crawley_Town_F.C.).

## Club career

### Chelsea

After a spell with [Fulham](/source/Fulham_F.C.), Conroy joined [Chelsea](/source/Chelsea_F.C.) in 2008 as an Under-13. Conroy quickly progressed through the youth ranks with the Blues and guided Chelsea to [FA Youth Cup](/source/FA_Youth_Cup) and [Under-21 Premier League](/source/Professional_Development_League) victories in 2014.[3] On 29 February 2016, Conroy was rewarded with a new two-year contract until 2018.[4]

On 31 August 2016, Conroy joined [National League](/source/National_League_(division)) side [Aldershot Town](/source/Aldershot_Town_F.C.) on a six-month loan deal until January 2017.[5] A week later, Conroy made his Aldershot debut in a 1–1 draw against [Boreham Wood](/source/Boreham_Wood_F.C.), featuring for the full 90 minutes.[6] On 22 December 2016, after impressing with Aldershot, Conroy's loan was extended until the end of the 2016–17 campaign.[7] However, just over a month later, Chelsea terminated his loan deal, with many [Football League](/source/English_Football_League) clubs interested in purchasing the defender.[8]

### Swindon Town

On 27 January 2017, Conroy joined [League One](/source/EFL_League_One) side [Swindon Town](/source/Swindon_Town_F.C.) on a two-and-a-half-year deal.[9] A day later, Conroy made his Swindon debut in a 1–0 away defeat against local rivals [Bristol Rovers](/source/Bristol_Rovers_F.C.), replacing [Lloyd Jones](/source/Lloyd_Jones_(English_footballer)) in the 90th minute.[10] On 11 February 2017, Conroy was given his first start by manager [Luke Williams](/source/Luke_Williams_(footballer,_born_1981)), in Swindon's 1–0 away defeat against [Bury](/source/Bury_F.C.), featuring for the entire 90 minutes.[11] On 16 September 2017, Conroy ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament during Swindon's 3–2 victory over [Stevenage](/source/Stevenage_F.C.),[12] ruling him out for several months.[13]

He was offered a new contract by Swindon at the end of the 2018–19 season.[14] In June 2019 he signed a new one-year contract.[15]

Following defeat to [Port Vale](/source/Port_Vale_F.C.) in the [EFL League Two play-offs](/source/EFL_League_Two_play-offs), Conroy was released at the end of the [2021–22 season](/source/2021%E2%80%9322_Swindon_Town_F.C._season).[16]

### Crawley Town

On 30 June 2022, it was announced that Conroy had joined [EFL League Two](/source/EFL_League_Two) club [Crawley Town](/source/Crawley_Town_F.C.) on a two-year contract.[17]

Conroy started all three of Crawley's League Two play-off matches at the end of the [2023–24](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_Crawley_Town_F.C._season) as Crawley were promoted to League One after a 2–0 victory over [Crewe Alexandra](/source/Crewe_Alexandra_F.C.) in the [final](/source/2024_EFL_League_Two_play-off_final).[18][19]

On 27 June 2025, the club announced he had signed a new two-year deal.[20]

He was left out of Crawley's registered squad for the second half of the 2025–26 season, and was replaced as captain by [Jay Williams](/source/Jay_Williams_(footballer)).[21]

## Personal life
