# Diogo Feio

**Diogo Nuno de Gouveia Torres Feio** (October 6, 1970, [Porto](/source/Porto), [Portugal](/source/Portugal)) is a Portuguese lawyer, [University Lecturer](/source/University_Lecturer) and politician.

## Biography

Diogo Feio obtained a [law degree](/source/Law_degree) from the Faculty of Law of the [Portuguese Catholic University](/source/Portuguese_Catholic_University), a master's degree in Legal and Economic Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the [University of Coimbra](/source/University_of_Coimbra) and a doctorate in the same area from the Faculty of Law of the [University of Porto](/source/University_of_Porto).[1]

A member of the [People's Party](/source/CDS_%E2%80%93_People's_Party) (CDS–PP), he was a member of the [Portuguese Parliament](/source/Assembly_of_the_Republic_(Portugal)) and president of the CDS-PP Parliamentary Group. In 2005, he joined the [16th Constitutional Government](/source/XVI_Constitutional_Government_of_Portugal) ([Santana Lopes](/source/Pedro_Santana_Lopes)) as Secretary of State for Education.

In the [2009 European elections](/source/List_of_members_of_the_European_Parliament_for_Portugal,_2009%E2%80%932014), he was elected to the [European Parliament](/source/European_Parliament) as a member of the Group of the [European People's Party](/source/European_People's_Party) (Christian Democrats) and [European Democrats](/source/European_Democrats), concluding his mandate in 2015.[2]
