It is located in the tea growing area of Assam. The closest town to it is [Tinsukia](/source/Tinsukia). During [World War II](/source/World_War_II), nearby [Dinjan Airfield](/source/Dinjan_Airfield) was used by transport aircraft which carried supplies over [The Hump](/source/The_Hump) to [Kunming](/source/Kunming), [China](/source/China) for the Chinese army.
