# Dimension time cost model

The **dimension time cost model** (**DTC**) is a [creative problem-solving](/source/Creative_problem-solving) [technique](/source/Creativity_techniques#In_problem_solving) that analyzes a problem by maximizing its possible characteristics.[1][2] Dimension can also encompass other physical characteristics such as [temperature](/source/Temperature), [brightness](/source/Luminous_intensity), [mass](/source/Mass), etc. The DTC model encouragaes creativity by reviewing a system at its potential minimal and maximal points.[3]

The approach is based on the [theory of inventive problem solving](/source/Theory_of_inventive_problem_solving) (TRIZ).
