# Diligentia

**Diligentia** is a [learned society](/source/Learned_society) founded in [The Hague](/source/The_Hague) in 1793. All reigning monarchs of the [Netherlands](/source/Netherlands) since [King William I](/source/William_I_of_the_Netherlands) have been patrons of Diligentia, and many members of the royal family have been honorary members.[1]
