**Diego Botin** (born 25 December 1993) is a Spanish [sailor](/source/Sailing_(sport)). He and [Iago López](/source/Iago_L%C3%B3pez_(sailor)) placed ninth in the [49er](/source/Sailing_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_49er) event at the [2016 Summer Olympics](/source/2016_Summer_Olympics) and fourth at the [2020 Summer Olympics](/source/2020_Summer_Olympics).[1][2] In tandem with [Florian Trittel](/source/Flori%C3%A1n_Trittel), he won the gold medal in the [49er](/source/49er_(dinghy)) class at the [2024 Summer Olympics](/source/2024_Summer_Olympics).

## Personal

Botín is the son of Gonzalo Botín Naveda and grandson of [Jaime Botín](/source/Jaime_Bot%C3%ADn). He is a member of the Botín family of [Banco Santander](/source/Banco_Santander).
