**Didier Arsène Marcel Domi** (born 2 May 1978) is a French football coach, former professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) and pundit who is technical advisor to the [Paris Saint-Germain](/source/Paris_Saint-Germain_FC) Academy in Qatar.

As a player, he was a left-back who had two spells with Paris Saint-Germain where he made 79 appearances in [Ligue 1](/source/Ligue_1). He also played in the [Premier League](/source/Premier_League) for [Newcastle United](/source/Newcastle_United_F.C.) and [Leeds United](/source/Leeds_United_F.C.) and in [La Liga](/source/La_Liga) for [Espanyol](/source/RCD_Espanyol). He later won multiple trophies in [Greece](/source/Greece) with [Olympiacos](/source/Olympiacos_F.C.) before retiring with [Major League Soccer](/source/Major_League_Soccer) side [New England Revolution](/source/New_England_Revolution).

## Early life

Domi was born in [Sarcelles](/source/Sarcelles), Val d'Oise, France. He is an convert to [Islam](/source/Islam).[2]

## Club career

### Paris Saint-Germain

Domi joined [Paris Saint-Germain](/source/Paris_Saint-Germain_FC) as a trainee in 1994, and made his debut in January 1996.[3] The following season, having only appeared once in [their UEFA Cup Winners' Cup defence](/source/1996%E2%80%9397_UEFA_Cup_Winners'_Cup), he was brought in to start the first leg of the semi-final against [Liverpool](/source/Liverpool_F.C.) as PSG won 3–0, and also played 90 minutes in the final loss to [Barcelona](/source/FC_Barcelona).

Having appeared in the [UEFA Super Cup](/source/UEFA_Super_Cup) against [Juventus](/source/Juventus_FC) the same season, the next campaign he took part in the [UEFA Champions League](/source/UEFA_Champions_League) and helped PSG win both the [French Cup](/source/Coupe_de_France) and [French League Cup](/source/Coupe_de_la_Ligue).[4][5]

### Newcastle United

Domi's performances earned a €6m move to [Newcastle United](/source/Newcastle_United_F.C.) in January 1999, but after a good start he fell out of favour and began 2001 with a return to PSG for the same fee for which they sold him. Whilst at Newcastle he played in the [1999 FA Cup Final](/source/1999_FA_Cup_Final) and scored three league goals, all coming in the 1999–2000 season against Wimbledon, Coventry and rivals Sunderland.

### Return to Paris and loan to Leeds United

Injury limited Domi's appearances at PSG and in 2003–04 he was loaned to [Leeds United](/source/Leeds_United_F.C.) but only made a sporadic impact as they were relegated from the [Premier League](/source/Premier_League).[6]

### Espanyol and Olympiacos

PSG let Domi join [Espanyol](/source/RCD_Espanyol) in summer 2004 and late in [2005–06](/source/2005%E2%80%9306_Copa_del_Rey) he finally held down a regular place, helping them to the [Copa del Rey](/source/Copa_del_Rey) final, though he did not appear in the 4–1 win against [Real Zaragoza](/source/Real_Zaragoza). At the end of that season he moved on a free transfer to [Olympiacos](/source/Olympiacos_F.C.), signing a three-year deal.

### New England Revolution

On 11 January 2011, Domi signed a one-year contract with the [New England Revolution](/source/New_England_Revolution),[7] and made his MLS debut on 26 March 2011 in a 2–1 win over [D.C. United](/source/D.C._United).[8] The Revolution released Domi on 17 July 2011.[9]

## International career

Domi is a former French youth and Under-21 international.

## After retirement

Domi currently works for [beIN Sports](/source/BeIN_Sports) in the Middle East.[10]
