**Dhaka-7** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh). Since 13 February 2026, this constituency is represented by [Hamidur Rahman](/source/Hamidur_Rahman_(Bangladeshi_politician)), a candidate from the [Bangladesh Nationalist Party](/source/Bangladesh_Nationalist_Party).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Dhaka South City Corporation](/source/Dhaka_South_City_Corporation) wards [23](/source/Ward_No._23_(Dhaka_South_City_Corporation)) through [33](/source/Ward_No._33_(Dhaka_South_City_Corporation)), as well as [35](/source/Ward_No._35_(Dhaka_South_City_Corporation)) and [36](/source/Ward_No._36_(Dhaka_South_City_Corporation)), integrating these wards within a single administrative and electoral boundary.[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[3] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[4]
