**Dhaka-4** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh). Since 13th February, 2026, this constituency is represented by [Bangladesh Jaamat-e-Islami](/source/Bangladesh_Jamaat-e-Islami) candidate **Syed Joynul Abedin**.

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses wards 47 and 51 through 54 of [Dhaka South City Corporation](/source/Dhaka_South_City_Corporation), as well as the [union parishad](/source/Union_parishad) of [Shyampur Thana](/source/Shyampur_Thana): Shyampur integrating these areas within a single administrative and electoral boundary.[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[3] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[4]
