**Dexter Sol Ansell** (born 16 September 2014) is an English child actor. He is known for his role as Aegon "Egg" Targaryen in the [HBO](/source/HBO) series *[A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms](/source/A_Knight_of_the_Seven_Kingdoms_(TV_series))* (2026–present).

## Early life

From [Leeds](/source/Leeds), West Yorkshire,[2] Ansell is the son of former *[Quizmania](/source/Quizmania)* host Debbie (née King) and pop-opera group [G4](/source/G4_(group)) singer [Jonathan Ansell](/source/Jonathan_Ansell).[3] He has one older sister.[3]

## Career

Ansell began acting in the British soap opera *[Emmerdale](/source/Emmerdale)* playing the role of [Jimmy King](/source/Jimmy_King_(Emmerdale))'s son [Carl Holliday](/source/Carl_Holliday) between January and May 2016. He returned to *Emmerdale* in June 2019, playing [Dawn Taylor](/source/Dawn_Taylor)'s son [Lucas Taylor](/source/Lucas_Taylor_(Emmerdale)), which he continued to play until March 2021.[4][5]

In 2023, Ansell played the role of young [Coriolanus Snow](/source/Coriolanus_Snow) in *[The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes](/source/The_Hunger_Games%3A_The_Ballad_of_Songbirds_%26_Snakes)*.[6][7] He appeared in the series *[The Midwich Cuckoos](/source/The_Midwich_Cuckoos_(TV_series))*,[8] the sitcom *[Hullraisers](/source/Hullraisers)* on [Channel 4](/source/Channel_4),[9] and the 2023 horror film *The Moor*.[10] He also appeared in the [Netflix](/source/Netflix) film *[Christmas on Mistletoe Farm](/source/Christmas_on_Mistletoe_Farm)*. His projects include the [Robert Zemeckis](/source/Robert_Zemeckis) film *[Here](/source/Here_(2024_film))*, and as Little Dan in the [Sky Cinema](/source/Sky_Cinema) family comedy film *[Robin and the Hoods](/source/Robin_and_the_Hoods)*.[11]

In April 2024, he was cast in the lead role of "Egg" in *[A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms](/source/A_Knight_of_the_Seven_Kingdoms_(TV_series))*, written by [George R. R. Martin](/source/George_R._R._Martin) and Ira Parker. It is set between the events of *[House of the Dragon](/source/House_of_the_Dragon)* and *[Game of Thrones](/source/Game_of_Thrones)*.[12] The series premiered in 2026.
