**Devin Culp** (born February 2, 2000) is an American professional [football](/source/American_football) [tight end](/source/Tight_end) for the [Tampa Bay Buccaneers](/source/Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers) of the [National Football League](/source/National_Football_League) (NFL). He played [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Washington Huskies](/source/Washington_Huskies_football) and was selected by the Buccaneers in the seventh round of the [2024 NFL draft](/source/2024_NFL_draft).

## Early life

From [Spokane, Washington](/source/Spokane,_Washington), Culp attended [Gonzaga Preparatory School](/source/Gonzaga_Preparatory_School) where he played football and basketball.[1][2] He became a starter on the basketball team as a [freshman](/source/Freshman) and also saw significant playing time on the football team at Gonzaga as a [wide receiver](/source/Wide_receiver).[3] In football, Culp was a first-team all-state selection, and he helped Gonzaga reach the quarterfinals of the state playoffs as a [senior](/source/Senior_(education)).[1][4] He committed to play [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Washington Huskies](/source/Washington_Huskies_football), after having flipped from the [Oregon Ducks](/source/Oregon_Ducks_football).[5][6]

## College career

Culp became a [tight end](/source/Tight_end) and [redshirted](/source/Redshirt_(college_sports)) as a true [freshman](/source/Freshman) at Washington in 2018.[7] He appeared in 14 of the team's 17 games in the 2019 and 2020 seasons but saw limited playing time, only making a single [reception](/source/Reception_(gridiron_football)).[7] He had a breakout season in 2021, recording 20 catches for 222 yards and one [touchdown](/source/Touchdown).[8][9] In 2022, he recorded 29 receptions for 266 yards and a touchdown.[10] He returned for a final season in 2023 and caught 16 passes for 208 yards and two scores, named honorable mention [All-Pac-12 Conference](/source/List_of_All-Pac-12_Conference_football_teams) and College sports communicators (CSC) academic all district team[11] while helping Washington reach the national championship.[1][12][13]

## Professional career

Culp was invited to the [NFL Scouting Combine](/source/NFL_Scouting_Combine) in 2024, where he ran the fourth-fastest [40-yard dash](/source/40-yard_dash) by a tight end since 2003.[14] He was selected by the [Tampa Bay Buccaneers](/source/Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers) in the seventh round (246th overall) of the [2024 NFL draft](/source/2024_NFL_draft).[15] On August 27, 2024, it was announced that Culp had made the team's 53-man roster.[16] He joined former [University of Washington](/source/University_of_Washington) Huskies: [Greg Gaines](/source/Greg_Gaines_(defensive_lineman)), [Vita Vea](/source/Vita_Vea), [Joe Tyron-Shoyinka](/source/Joe_Tryon-Shoyinka), [Cade Otton](/source/Cade_Otton), and [Jalen Mcmillan](/source/Jalen_McMillan) on the roster.[17]
