**Desmond "Dessie" Sloyan** (born 2 February 1976) is an Irish [Gaelic football](/source/Gaelic_football) [manager](/source/Manager_(Gaelic_games)) and former player. His [league](/source/National_Football_League_(Ireland)) and [championship](/source/All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship) career at senior level with the [Sligo county team](/source/Sligo_county_football_team) spanned ten seasons from 1996 until 2006.[1]

## Playing career

Sloyan scored eight points in Sligo's unexpected victory over a [Mick O'Dwyer](/source/Mick_O'Dwyer)-managed [Kildare](/source/Kildare_county_football_team) in the [2001 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship](/source/2001_All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship).[2]

## Managerial career

He has also had a successful managerial career in Gaelic Football, winning a [Connacht Junior Club Football Championship](/source/Connacht_Junior_Club_Football_Championship) in 2018 with his club Easkey [3] and also managing [Sligo GAA](/source/Sligo_GAA) U20s to their first ever provincial title at that age group when winning the 2022 [Connacht Under-20 Football Championship](/source/Connacht_Under-20_Football_Championship).[4]

He joined the [Longford senior football team](/source/Longford_senior_football_team) backroom team when [Paddy Christie](/source/Paddy_Christie) was appointed manager in August 2022.[5]

As of January 2025, he was working with manager [Ray Dempsey](/source/Ray_Dempsey) and head coach and selector [Joe Brolly](/source/Joe_Brolly) at Mayo's [Knockmore GAA](/source/Knockmore_GAA) club.[6] In July 2025, he was ratified as joint manager of the Sligo senior footballers with [Eamonn O'Hara](/source/Eamonn_O'Hara).[7]
