==High school career==
Rodriguez attended the [Frederick Douglass Academy](/source/Frederick_Douglass_Academy) for two years. He transferred to [Abraham Lincoln High School](/source/Abraham_Lincoln_High_School_(Brooklyn%2C_New_York)) and befriended his teammate [Isaiah Whitehead](/source/Isaiah_Whitehead). He credits this transfer to changing his life as he played against higher levels of competition. Rodriguez committed to Seton Hall, where he averaged 5.6 points per game in his freshman season. He recorded 12.4 points per game as a sophomore.
