**Dermot Power**, originally from [County Waterford](/source/County_Waterford), Ireland, is a movie [concept artist](/source/Concept_artist) who started his career as a [comic book artist](/source/Comic_book_artist) working for British anthology comic *[2000 AD](/source/2000_AD_(comic))*.

## Biography

He got his break in comic books when he was commissioned to do the cover of a Judge Dredd video game back in 1990. His painterly covers quickly established him as a major talent. He then worked for *[2000 AD](/source/2000_AD_(comic))* on flagship titles like *[Judge Dredd](/source/Judge_Dredd)* and *[Sláine](/source/Sl%C3%A1ine_(comics))* up until 1997, when he successfully pursued a career in the film industry as a storyboard and concept artist.

He has served as a conceptual artist on movies such as *[Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones](/source/Star_Wars:_Episode_II_%E2%80%93_Attack_of_the_Clones)*, *[Charlie and the Chocolate Factory](/source/Charlie_and_the_Chocolate_Factory_(film))*, *[Batman Begins](/source/Batman_Begins)*, the [*Harry Potter* series](/source/Harry_Potter_(film_series)), and *[Alice in Wonderland](/source/Alice_in_Wonderland_(2010_film))*.
