# Derick Roberson

**Derick Roberson** (born November 15, 1995) is an American [football](/source/American_football) [linebacker](/source/Linebacker) for the [DC Defenders](/source/DC_Defenders) of the [United Football League](/source/United_Football_League_(2024)) (UFL). Following two seasons with [Texas](/source/Texas_Longhorns_football), Roberson played [college football](/source/College_football) at [Sam Houston State](/source/Sam_Houston_State_Bearkats_football).

## Professional career

### Tennessee Titans

Roberson was signed by the [Tennessee Titans](/source/Tennessee_Titans) as an [undrafted free agent](/source/Undrafted_free_agent) on May 9, 2019.[1] He was waived on August 31, 2019, and was signed to the practice squad the next day.[2][3] Roberson was promoted to the active roster on October 19, 2019, but was waived three days later and re-signed back to the practice squad.[4][5] He was promoted to the active roster again on November 26, 2019.[6] During a Week 16 38–28 loss to the [New Orleans Saints](/source/2019_New_Orleans_Saints_season), Roberson recorded his first two career sacks on [Drew Brees](/source/Drew_Brees).[7] In the regular-season finale against the [Houston Texans](/source/2019_Houston_Texans_season), he recorded three tackles and a sack in the 35-14 road victory.[8]

On September 28, 2021, Roberson was placed on injured reserve on September 28, 2021.[9] He was activated on November 16.[10]

### Houston Texans

On September 8, 2022, Roberson was signed to the [Houston Texans](/source/Houston_Texans) practice squad.[11] He was released from the practice squad on November 7.[12]

### Houston Roughnecks

The [Houston Roughnecks](/source/Houston_Roughnecks_(2020)) selected Roberson in the second round of the [2023 XFL Supplemental Draft](/source/2023_XFL_Supplemental_Draft) on January 1, 2023.[13] He recorded no stats all season and the Roughnecks lost in the first round of the playoffs.[14] He was released on December 15, 2023.[15]

### DC Defenders

On December 20, 2023, Roberson signed with the [DC Defenders](/source/DC_Defenders) of the [United Football League (UFL)](/source/United_Football_League_(2024)).[15] He played in 9 games in 2024, racking up 32 tackles, 4.5 Sacks and 2 forced fumbles.[16]

He re-signed with the team on October 3, 2024.[17] He again played in 9 games during which he got 27 tackles and 5.5 sacks, helping the Defenders to win the [2025 UFL Championship](/source/2025_UFL_championship_game). On June 2, 2025, Roberson was named to the All-UFL Team.[18]
