'''Derek Norman Crookes''' (born 5 March 1969) is a former South African [cricketer](/source/cricketer) who played 32 [One Day International](/source/One_Day_International)s for [South Africa](/source/South_African_cricket_team) between 1994 and 2000. In domestic cricket he played for [Natal](/source/Dolphins_cricket_team), [Gauteng](/source/Gauteng_cricket_team), [Easterns](/source/Easterns_cricket_team) and the [Highveld Lions](/source/Highveld_Lions_cricket_team). Crookes was a member of the South Africa team that won the [1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy](/source/1998_ICC_KnockOut_Trophy), the first ICC trophy that South Africa won , where he scored the winning boundary in the [final](/source/1998_ICC_KnockOut_Trophy_Final).

He was educated at [Hilton College](/source/Hilton_College_(South_Africa)).

His father, [Norman Crookes](/source/Norman_Crookes), was an off-spinning all-rounder who played for Natal in the 1960s and toured [England](/source/England) with the South African team in 1965, but did not play a Test.
