***Der singende Tor*** (literal English translation: *The Singing Fool*)[2] is a 1939 German-Italian [musical film](/source/Musical_film) directed by [Johannes Meyer](/source/Johannes_Meyer_(director)) and starring [Beniamino Gigli](/source/Beniamino_Gigli), [Kirsten Heiberg](/source/Kirsten_Heiberg), and [Hilde Körber](/source/Hilde_K%C3%B6rber).[3] It was a [co-production](/source/Co-production_(filmmaking)) made at [Cinecittà Studios](/source/Cinecitt%C3%A0_Studios) in [Rome](/source/Rome) with a German director and a cast of mixed nationalities. The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Otto Guelstorff](/source/Otto_Guelstorff). A separate Italian version called *Casa lontana* was also made.
