**Deon Lee** ([Hangul](/source/Hangul): 디온 리) is a South Korean born composer known for his works on films *[1895](/source/1895_(2008_film))* and *[Papa](/source/PAPA_(2016_film))*.

Upon graduating from [Berklee College of Music](/source/Berklee_College_of_Music) with a scholarship, he has worked with [Velton Ray Bunch](/source/Velton_Ray_Bunch) as an assistant composer for the television movie *[The Tenth Circle](/source/The_Tenth_Circle_(film))* which premiered on [Lifetime channel](/source/Lifetime_(TV_network)). In 2008, Lee was asked to score for the Taiwanese film *[Blue Brave: The Legend of Formosa in 1895](/source/1895_(2008_film))* (a.k.a. *[一八九五](https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%80%E5%85%AB%E4%B9%9D%E4%BA%94)*) which was released and distributed by [20th Century Fox](/source/20th_Century_Fox) Taiwan and has aired on [Hakka](/source/Hakka) TV stations. The movie won the Best Drama Series Award at the 14th [Asian Television Awards](/source/Asian_Television_Awards) and was chosen the best 10 films of the [Chinese Film Critic Association](/source/Chinese_Film_Critic_Association) that year.[1]

## Awards and nominations

Lee was the recipient of the Best Soundtrack Award and appeared as a special guest with [Stephen McEveety](/source/Stephen_McEveety) at the 4th [Pan Pacific Film Festival](/source/Pan_Pacific_Film_Festival) in 2011. His music was nominated at the 1st International Fashion Film Awards in La Jolla, California, where his original score to the dance film *Lilith* by [Eric Chang](/source/Eric_Chang_(photographer)) won the Best Creative Concept Award at the [La Jolla Fashion Film Festival](/source/La_Jolla_Fashion_Film_Festival).[2] In 2014, *Badbug*, a South Korean drama thriller short film he had scored won the Best Comics-Oriented Award at the [Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival](/source/San_Diego_Comic-Con_International).[3][4]
