'''Dag Krister Volle''' (26 April 1963 – 30 August 1998), better known as '''Denniz Pop''' (stylized ''Denniz PoP''), was a Swedish DJ, music producer, and songwriter. He was a member of the DJ collective SweMix and later co-founded the recording studio [Cheiron Studios](/source/Cheiron_Studios) in Stockholm in 1992.

==Life and career==
Volle was born on 26 April 1963 in [Tullinge](/source/Tullinge), Sweden, to Norwegian immigrants.<ref name="shinybull">{{cite web|title=20 years since the Swedish DJ, Remixer, Producer and Songwriter Denniz Pop past away |url=https://shinybull.com/2018/04/23/20-years-since-the-swedish-dj-remixer-producer-and-songwriter-denniz-pop-past-away/ |website=shinybull.com |date=23 April 2018 |access-date=14 October 2024}}</ref><ref name="yt">{{cite web|title=Cheiron – En popsaga Del 1 av 5|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhfVqxL6ToU |archive-url=https://ghostarchive.org/varchive/youtube/20211212/EhfVqxL6ToU| archive-date=12 December 2021 |url-status=live|website=YouTube| date=15 February 2015 |access-date=10 June 2015}}{{cbignore}}</ref><!-- at 2:24, in Swedish --> He began DJing in the 1980s and started producing remixed records and later original releases.<ref name="shinybull" /> In 1986, he co-founded the DJ collective and remix service SweMix with Robert Wåtz (of [Rob'n'Raz](/source/Rob'n'Raz) fame), which also included [StoneBridge](/source/StoneBridge_(DJ)).<ref name="guardian" /><ref name="shinybull" /> In 1988, he released the track "Gimme Some Mo' (Bass on Me)" under his own name.<ref name="guardian">{{cite web|title='A true genius': Denniz Pop, the late Scandi-pop architect behind Max Martin, Robyn and NSync |url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/apr/27/a-true-genius-denniz-pop-the-late-scandi-pop-architect-behind-max-martin-robyn-and-nsync |website=theguardian.com |date=27 April 2023 |access-date=14 October 2024}}</ref>

Volle met the Nigerian-Swedish singer [Dr. Alban](/source/Dr._Alban) while they were both DJing, and in 1990, he produced his debut single, "[Hello Afrika](/source/Hello_Afrika)", and the subsequent eponymous album, which were released under the SweMix label. In 1992, he left SweMix and together with music investor Tom Talomaa, founded [Cheiron Studios](/source/Cheiron_Studios) in Stockholm;<ref name="shinybull" /> the next year, he recruited [Max Martin](/source/Max_Martin).
