The '''Delta D2''' is an Australian [diesel](/source/Diesel_engine)-powered [helicopter](/source/helicopter), under development by Delta Helicopters of [Tanah Merah, Queensland](/source/Tanah_Merah%2C_Queensland). The aircraft was publicly introduced in 2009 and is intended to be supplied as a kit for [amateur construction](/source/Homebuilt_aircraft).<ref name="WDLA11">Bayerl, Robby; Martin Berkemeier; et al: ''World Directory of Leisure Aviation 2011–12'', page 190. WDLA UK, Lancaster UK, 2011. ISSN 1368-485X</ref>

By January 2013, the Delta Helicopters website was no longer available on the internet<ref>{{cite web|url= https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.deltahelicopters.com.au/ |title=Delta Helicopters |website=Internet Archive Wayback Machine |access-date=15 September 2015}}{{cbignore}}</ref> and it is likely the company has gone out of business.

==Design and development==
The D2 features a single three-bladed main rotor, a two-seats-in [side-by-side configuration](/source/side-by-side_configuration) enclosed cockpit with a windshield, skid-type [landing gear](/source/landing_gear) and a four-cylinder, air-cooled, [two-stroke](/source/two-stroke), [turbocharged](/source/turbocharged) {{convert|180|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [DeltaHawk DH180](/source/DeltaHawk_DH180) diesel engine made by [DeltaHawk Engines, Inc.](/source/DeltaHawk_Engines%2C_Inc.)<ref name="WDLA11" />

The aircraft [fuselage](/source/fuselage) is made from welded [steel](/source/steel) tubing and covered in a composite [fairing](/source/Fairing_(aircraft)). Further details about the design have not been released.<ref name="WDLA11" />
