# Deep Thinkers

**Deep Thinkers** is an American [hip hop](/source/Hip_hop_music) group from [Kansas City](/source/Kansas_City,_Missouri), [Missouri](/source/Missouri) composed of [MC](/source/Rapping) Aaron Sutton (Brother of Moses) and [DJ](/source/Disc_jockey) and [producer](/source/Hip_hop_production) Kyle Dykes (Leonard D. Story,[1] Leonard Dstroy,[2] or Lenny D[3]).

Sutton and Dykes first met each other while performing in the live band Sevenfold Symphony and have been credited with playing an essential role in developing the Kansas City hip-hop scene.[4] Sutton regularly volunteers in the Kansas City community,[2] and is also an [oil painter](/source/Oil_painting).[1]

The group's lyrics center on social issues such as [politics](/source/Politics), [homelessness](/source/Homelessness), and [poverty](/source/Poverty). Its beats are composed of a myriad of [samples](/source/Sample_(music)), including those of [1970s funk music](/source/Funk#1970s),[5] [jazz](/source/Jazz), and [world music](/source/World_music).[6] Deep Thinkers has performed with artists including [Del tha Funkee Homosapien](/source/Del_tha_Funkee_Homosapien) and [Mac Lethal](/source/Mac_Lethal).[7]
