**Declan Roberts** is an English former [wheelchair rugby league](/source/Wheelchair_rugby_league) player who played for [Wigan Warriors](/source/Wigan_Warriors_Wheelchair) in [RFL Wheelchair Super League](/source/RFL_Wheelchair_Super_League) and the [England national wheelchair rugby league team](/source/England_national_wheelchair_rugby_league_team), having retired from the sport in December 2024.[1]

### Club

Roberts began playing wheelchair rugby league in 2013, winning the Grand Final a year later. He joined Wigan Warriors in the years of the creation of the club's wheelchair team in 2018.[2][3] Roberts was a key player for Wigan's victory in the [2023 Super League](/source/2023_RFL_Wheelchair_Super_League) Grand Final, scoring two tries and kicking seven goals.[4][5]

### International

Roberts made his England debut in the 2021 mid-season defeats against [France](/source/France_national_wheelchair_rugby_league_team).[6] He played was selected for England's [2021 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup](/source/2021_Wheelchair_Rugby_League_World_Cup) campaign.[7] England finished the tournament as champions, beating [France](/source/France_national_wheelchair_rugby_league_team) 28–24.[8]

## Personal life

Roberts is the son of [Ireland](/source/Ireland_national_wheelchair_rugby_league_team) international, Phil Roberts.[9]
