== Story ==
In the 1970s, Yang's father, an ardent [communist](/source/communist) and leader of the pro-North movement in Japan, sent his three sons from [Japan](/source/Japan) to North Korea under a [repatriation campaign](/source/Zainichi_Korean) sponsored by ethnic activist organisation and de facto North Korean embassy [Chongryon](/source/Chongryon). As the only daughter, Yang remained in Japan. However, as the economic situation in the North deteriorated, the brothers became increasingly dependent for survival on the care packages sent by their parents. The film shows Yang's visits to her brothers in [Pyongyang](/source/Pyongyang), as well as conversations with her father about his ideological views and his regrets over breaking up his family.<ref name=Kim>{{cite news|url=http://koreapop.com/webzine.pfm?mode=review&num=224&code=review|publisher=[The Korea Times](/source/The_Korea_Times)|date=2006-11-24|accessdate=2007-03-20|last=Kim|first=Tae-jong|title='Dear Pyongyang' for Dear Dad}}{{registration required}}</ref>
