# Dean Noel

**Dean Noel** (born February 21, 1969) is a Canadian former professional [football](/source/Canadian_football) [fullback](/source/Fullback_(gridiron_football)) who played for five years in the [Canadian Football League](/source/Canadian_Football_League) (CFL) for the [Ottawa Rough Riders](/source/Ottawa_Rough_Riders) and [Hamilton Tiger-Cats](/source/Hamilton_Tiger-Cats).[1]

Noel played [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Delaware State Hornets](/source/Delaware_State_Hornets_football).[1]

## Professional career

### Ottawa Rough Riders

After finishing his college eligibility, Noel was drafted in the fourth round, 26th overall, by his hometown [Ottawa Rough Riders](/source/Ottawa_Rough_Riders), in the [1993 CFL draft](/source/1993_CFL_draft).[2] He played in 25 regular season games for the Rough Riders over two seasons where he had four carries for 10 yards and 13 receptions for 133 yards and two touchdowns.[3] He also recorded 42 special teams tackles, including 30 in [1994](/source/1994_Ottawa_Rough_Riders_season), which is an [Ottawa franchise record](/source/Ottawa_Football_Clubs_all-time_records_and_statistics#Tackles).[4]

### Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Noel joined the [Hamilton Tiger-Cats](/source/Hamilton_Tiger-Cats) in 1995 and played for the team for three years in 40 regular season games.[3] He had 18 carries for 111 yards, 14 catches for 121 yards, and 57 special teams tackles.[3]

## Personal life

Noel and his family moved from the [Caribbean](/source/Caribbean) to [Ottawa](/source/Ottawa) when he was four years old.[5] His son, [Serron](/source/Serron_Noel) is a professional [ice hockey](/source/Ice_hockey) player who was drafted by the [Florida Panthers](/source/Florida_Panthers).[5]
