**Dean Muir** (born 6 February 1989) is a South African [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player currently playing hooker position for the [Houston SaberCats](/source/Houston_SaberCats) in [Major League Rugby](/source/Major_League_Rugby) (MLR) where he is team captain.[1] He previously played for the [San Diego Legion](/source/San_Diego_Legion) of the MLR.[2]

## Career

He represented the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) at the 2006 and 2007 Under–18 [Craven Week](/source/Craven_Week) tournaments and played for the Sharks' Under–19 team the following season.

In 2010, he played for the [TUT Vikings](/source/Tshwane_University_of_Technology) in the [2010 Varsity Cup](/source/2010_Varsity_Cup).[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

He returned to the Sharks and was included in their squad for the [2012 Vodacom Cup](/source/2012_Vodacom_Cup). He was named on the bench for the game against the [Boland Cavaliers](/source/Boland_Cavaliers), but failed to make an appearance.[3]

In the second half of 2012, he joined the [Border Bulldogs](/source/Border_Bulldogs), where he made his debut in the opening game of the [2012 Currie Cup First Division](/source/2012_Currie_Cup_First_Division) season against the [SWD Eagles](/source/SWD_Eagles)[4] and became a regular starter for the team.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
