It is a narrow, rocky, and scenic river that supports [brook](/source/brook_trout), [steelhead](/source/steelhead_trout) and [rainbow trout](/source/rainbow_trout), [smelt](/source/smelt_(fish)), and [white](/source/white_suckers) and [longnose sucker](/source/longnose_sucker)s in the spring.  The river runs south to its mouth on [Little Bay De Noc](/source/Little_Bay_De_Noc) on [Lake Michigan](/source/Lake_Michigan) at {{coord|45|53|37|N|86|59|5|W |region:US-MI_type:waterbody |display=inline,title|name=Days River mouth}}, near [Masonville Township](/source/Masonville_Township%2C_Michigan). There is a low-head dam by Gladstone Golf Course installed in 1978 to prevent upstream migration of invasive [sea lamprey](/source/sea_lamprey).
