He is currently a member of the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_of_Zambia) and a former [Minister of Defence](/source/Ministry_of_Defence_(Zambia)).

==Biography==
Chama earned a diploma in agriculture and worked as an agriculturalist.<ref name=NA/> After joining the [Patriotic Front](/source/Patriotic_Front_(Zambia)) party, he contested the [Kabwe Central](/source/Kabwe_Central) seat in the [2006 general elections](/source/2006_Zambian_general_election), but was defeated by the [Movement for Multi-Party Democracy](/source/Movement_for_Multi-Party_Democracy)'s [Kayula Kakusa](/source/Kayula_Kakusa) by a margin of 171 votes.<ref>[http://www.elections.org.zm/media/parliamentary_results_2006.pdf 2006 parliamentary election results] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180417040936/http://www.elections.org.zm/media/parliamentary_results_2006.pdf |date=2018-04-17 }} Electoral Commission of Zambia</ref> He subsequently became chair of the party's [Lusaka Province](/source/Lusaka_Province) branch, and later Secretary-General.<ref name=ZO>{{cite news|url=http://www.zambianobserver.com/davies-chama-defence-minister-one-of-the-most-clean-man-i-know-in-pf/|title=Davies Chama, Defence Minister one of the most clean man I know in PF|work=Zambian Observer|date=20 October 2016|accessdate=2018-04-05}}</ref>
