# David Trimnel

English priest; Archdeacon of Leicester

**David Trimnel,** [D.D.](/source/Doctor_of_Divinity) (b [Abbots Ripton](/source/Abbots_Ripton) 15 September 1675 – d [Stoke Hammond](/source/Stoke_Hammond) 18 May 1756) was an English priest.[1]

Trimnel was educated at [New College, Oxford](/source/New_College%2C_Oxford).[2] He was [Rector](/source/Rector_(ecclesiastical)) of [Nuneham Courtney](/source/Nuneham_Courtney) from 1660. He was appointed [Archdeacon of Leicester](/source/Archdeacon_of_Leicester) in 1715[3] and [Precentor](/source/Precentor) of [Lincoln Cathedral](/source/Lincoln_Cathedral) in 1718,[4] holding both posts until his death. He had three brothers: [Charles](/source/Charles_Trimnell) (Bishop of Norwich and of Winchester), [William](/source/William_Trimnel) (Dean of Winchester), and Hugh (king's apothecary).[5]
