**David Stypka** (21 July 1979 – 10 January 2021) was a [Czech](/source/Czechs) singer known for his performances in the band [David Stypka and Bandjeez](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=David_Stypka_and_Bandjeez&action=edit&redlink=1).

## Biography

Stypka came from [Dobrá](/source/Dobr%C3%A1_(Fr%C3%BDdek-M%C3%ADstek_District)) near [Frýdek-Místek](/source/Fr%C3%BDdek-M%C3%ADstek). After graduating from a grammar school in Frýdek, he was a journalist in the regional press, and also briefly worked at a candle shop and was a salesman at local festivals. After years of journalistic work, he became a [graphic artist](/source/Graphic_designer) and [typesetter](/source/Typesetting). He had long collaborated with the magazine [Pěstounství](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=P%C4%9Bstounstv%C3%AD&action=edit&redlink=1) [[cz](https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C4%9Bstounstv%C3%AD)] (single-parentship). He was single, with three children.[1]

In the summer of 2019, Stypka was diagnosed with [pancreatic cancer](/source/Pancreatic_cancer). He died on 10 January 2021, at the age of 41 from complications associated with [COVID-19](/source/COVID-19) during the [COVID-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_the_Czech_Republic).[2]
