'''David Stiff''' (born 20 October 1984) is an English [cricket](/source/cricket)er. He is a right-handed [batsman](/source/batsman) and a right-arm [fast bowler](/source/Fast_bowling). He was born in [Dewsbury](/source/Dewsbury) and educated at [Silcoates School](/source/Silcoates_School), Wakefield and [Batley Grammar School](/source/Batley_Grammar_School).

The former-[Yorkshire](/source/Yorkshire_County_Cricket_Club) fast bowler made headlines for a spell of bowling against [Uganda](/source/Ugandan_cricket_team) of 4 for 7,<ref>{{cite web|url=http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/ci/content/story/136802.html|title=England overwhelm Uganda|publisher=ESPNcricinfo|access-date=21 December 2016}}</ref> identical to fellow bowler [Tim Bresnan](/source/Tim_Bresnan).

In 2004 Stiff decided to leave Yorkshire amid a lot of interest from other counties. He apparently had interest from a dozen counties and took the opportunity to play for [Kent](/source/Kent_County_Cricket_Club). He toured Australia with the Under-17s in 2001, and with the Under-19s in 2003, also playing in the Under-19s World Cup in Bangladesh.

In 2007, Stiff was released by Kent and went to Leicestershire. At the start of the 2009 season Stiff joined Somerset on a two-month trial and on 14 May 2009 he accepted an extension to his contract which would last until the end of that season. In August 2010, Somerset's Director of Cricket, [Brian Rose](/source/Brian_Rose_(cricketer)) announced that Stiff's contract would not be renewed for the 2011 season.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.somersetcountycc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/Newsdetail/0,,11333~2132096,00.html |title=Somerset Release Three Players |publisher=[Somerset County Cricket Club](/source/Somerset_County_Cricket_Club) |date=2010-08-23 |access-date=2010-08-24 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100827084412/http://www.somersetcountycc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/Newsdetail/0%2C%2C11333~2132096%2C00.html |archivedate=27 August 2010 }}</ref>
