**David Marciano** (born January 7, 1960,[1] in [Newark, New Jersey](/source/Newark%2C_New_Jersey))[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] is an American actor best known for his roles as Jeffery in *[Civil Wars](/source/Civil_Wars_(TV_series))* (1991–1993), Detective [Raymond Vecchio](/source/Due_South_characters#Detective_Raymond_Vecchio) in the television series *[Due South](/source/Due_South)*, Detective [Steve Billings](/source/List_of_The_Shield_characters#Steve_Billings) in the [FX](/source/FX_(TV_network)) police drama *[The Shield](/source/The_Shield)*, Virgil in *[Homeland](/source/Homeland_(TV_series))* (2011–2013), Brad in *[Bosch](/source/Bosch_(TV_series))* (2016–2020), and Howard in *[Shooter](/source/Shooter_(TV_series))* (2016–2017).

## Career

In 1985, Marciano moved to [California](/source/California) where he studied acting at the Drama Studio London in [Berkeley](/source/Berkeley%2C_California), earning a living by working as a bartender.[2] His big break came two years later as a guest star in *[Wiseguy](/source/Wiseguy_(TV_series))*, playing a [mobster](/source/Mobster) impersonating Lorenzo Steelgrave. In 1989 he played the diner owner Stanley in [Pepsi](/source/Pepsi)'s 'Diner' commercial shown in the UK.

More small parts followed, including Cop #1 in the film *[Lethal Weapon 2](/source/Lethal_Weapon_2)*, before he played the role of [bicycle messenger](/source/Bicycle_messenger)/poet Jeffrey Lassick in [legal drama](/source/Legal_drama) *[Civil Wars](/source/Civil_Wars_(TV_series))* from 1991–1993. He was then cast as [Detective Raymond Vecchio](/source/Due_South_characters#Detective_Raymond_Vecchio) in *[Due South](/source/Due_South)* in 1994. He played the part for two seasons before his character was replaced by Detective Stanley Kowalski ([Callum Keith Rennie](/source/Callum_Keith_Rennie)), due to filming commitments. He returned for the series finale in 1999 where Vecchio and Kowalski's ex-wife got together. He then appeared in the 1996 season 3 episode of *[Touched By An Angel](/source/Touched_By_An_Angel)* entitled "Into The Light" playing a dying man in need of a heart transplant. Later he took the role of Giorgio Clericuzio in the 1997 mini-series of [Mario Puzo](/source/Mario_Puzo)'s *[The Last Don](/source/The_Last_Don)*.
