**David M. Leitner** is an American chemist currently Professor at [University of Nevada, Reno](/source/University_of_Nevada,_Reno)[1] and an Elected Fellow of the [American Association for the Advancement of Science](/source/American_Association_for_the_Advancement_of_Science).[2]

## Education

He earned his B.S. at [Cornell University](/source/Cornell_University) in 1985 and then his Ph.D at [University of Chicago](/source/University_of_Chicago) in 1989 under [R. Stephen Berry](/source/R._Stephen_Berry).[3]

## Research

His interests are energy-molecule relations and his highest paper is *An extended dynamical hydration shell around proteins*,[4] according to Google Scholar.[5]
