# David Kestenbaum

**David Samuel Kestenbaum** (born 1969) is an American [radio producer](/source/Radio_producer) for *[This American Life](/source/This_American_Life)*. He was formerly a producer for *[Planet Money](/source/Planet_Money)* and a correspondent for [National Public Radio](/source/National_Public_Radio). He generally covers [science](/source/Science) and [economic](/source/Economic) issues.[2][3]

Kestenbaum earned a Ph.D. in physics from [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University) in 1996[2] with the thesis *[Observation of Top Quark Anti-Top Quark Production Using a Soft Lepton B Tag in Proton Anti-Proton Collisions at 1.8 TeV](http://lss.fnal.gov/archive/thesis/1900/fermilab-thesis-1996-48.pdf)* working under the supervision of [Melissa Franklin](/source/Melissa_Franklin).[4] In 1997, Kestenbaum was selected as a [AAAS](/source/American_Association_for_the_Advancement_of_Science) Mass Media Fellow, working at a [NPR](/source/NPR) affiliate radio station in [Columbus, Ohio](/source/Columbus,_Ohio).[5][6]
