Hackl was the production designer and second unit director for ''[Saw II](/source/Saw_II)'', ''[Saw III](/source/Saw_III)'', and ''[Saw IV](/source/Saw_IV)'', as well as for ''[Repo! The Genetic Opera](/source/Repo!_The_Genetic_Opera)''. He was in talks to direct ''Saw IV'', but [Darren Lynn Bousman](/source/Darren_Lynn_Bousman) returned as the director.
