'''David Ian Groves''' (born 1942) is an [economic geologist](/source/Economic_geology) and Emeritus Professor at the [University of Western Australia](/source/University_of_Western_Australia).

He received the [Clarke Medal](/source/Clarke_Medal) of the [Royal Society of New South Wales](/source/Royal_Society_of_New_South_Wales) in 1986, the [Royal Society of Western Australia Medal](/source/RSWA_Medal) in 2005, and the [Penrose Gold Medal](/source/Penrose_Gold_Medal) of the [Society of Economic Geologists](/source/Society_of_Economic_Geologists) in 2009. He has an honorary degree from the [University of Western Australia](/source/University_of_Western_Australia) and is a Fellow of the [Australian Academy of Science](/source/Australian_Academy_of_Science).
