'''David McKee Breeden''' (19 July 1946 [Fort Worth, Texas](/source/Fort_Worth%2C_Texas) – 22 June 2005 [Belmont, California](/source/Belmont%2C_California)) was an American clarinetist who was the principal clarinetist with the [San Francisco Symphony](/source/San_Francisco_Symphony) for 25 years. In addition to performing with the [San Francisco Symphony](/source/San_Francisco_Symphony), Breeden had taught at [Stanford University](/source/Stanford_University) and the [San Francisco Conservatory of Music](/source/San_Francisco_Conservatory_of_Music).  He performed for several years with the [U.S. Navy Band](/source/U.S._Navy_Band).

A native of [Fort Worth, Texas](/source/Fort_Worth%2C_Texas), he had been a student of his father, [Leon Breeden](/source/Leon_Breeden), clarinetist and renowned pioneer in jazz education at the [University of North Texas College of Music](/source/University_of_North_Texas_College_of_Music).  Breeden earned degrees from the [University of North Texas](/source/University_of_North_Texas) (Bachelor of Music, 1968) and [Catholic University](/source/The_Catholic_University_of_America). Breeden married Barbara J. Bernhard November 24, 1974, in [San Mateo County, California](/source/San_Mateo_County%2C_California).  They had three children.<ref name="DMN 2005 Aug 10" />
