# David Adamski

**David Adamski** (March 2, 1950 - October 25, 2025)[1][2] was an American [entomologist](/source/Entomologist) working as a research associate at the [Smithsonian Institution](/source/Smithsonian_Institution)'s [National Museum of Natural History](/source/National_Museum_of_Natural_History) and a support scientist in the Systematic Entomology Laboratory (SEL), [United States Department of Agriculture](/source/United_States_Department_of_Agriculture) in [Washington, D.C.](/source/Washington,_D.C.)[3] He obtained a PhD degree from the [Mississippi State University](/source/Mississippi_State_University), Department of Entomology in 1987 after defending a dissertation, titled "The Morphology and evolution of North American Blastobasidae (Lepidoptera:Gelechioidea)".[4] His research interests focus on alpha taxonomy, life histories and morphology of moths.[5] Over the years, Adamski produced more than 80 scholarly publications, some in collaboration, shedding light on discernible groups of [Lepidoptera](/source/Lepidoptera) including [Gelechioidea](/source/Gelechioidea), [Tortricoidea](/source/Tortricoidea), Pyralidoidea, and [Noctuoidea](/source/Noctuoidea). He studied divergent taxa within the [Auchenorrhyncha](/source/Auchenorrhyncha) and [Sternorrhyncha](/source/Sternorrhyncha), and Phytophagous Acari, as well as [Gelechioidea](/source/Gelechioidea) and [Blastobasidae](/source/Blastobasidae).[6] Adamski is a member of the Entomological Society of Washington.[7]
