# Dave Nutter

**David A. Nutter** (born April 2, 1955 in [Clarksburg, West Virginia](/source/Clarksburg,_West_Virginia)) is an [American politician](/source/American_politician) of the [Republican Party](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)). From 2002 to 2012, he served as a member of the [Virginia House of Delegates](/source/Virginia_House_of_Delegates). He represented the 7th district in the southwest part of the state, including the [city of Radford](/source/Radford,_Virginia) and parts of [Montgomery](/source/Montgomery_County,_Virginia) and [Pulaski Counties](/source/Pulaski_County,_Virginia).[1] In 2011, Nutter decided to forgo a re-election campaign for his House seat and unsuccessfully challenged State Senator [John S. Edwards](/source/John_S._Edwards_(Virginia)) in the [21st district](/source/Virginia's_21st_Senate_district).[2] In 2012, Governor [Bob McDonnell](/source/Bob_McDonnell) appointed Nutter to serve on the State Board of Community Colleges.[3]
