**Dave LaRue** is an American [bassist](/source/Bassist) who performed with the [Dixie Dregs](/source/Dixie_Dregs) from 1988 to 2017 and with guitarist [Steve Morse](/source/Steve_Morse)'s Band since 1989. He also has worked with [Dream Theater's](/source/Dream_Theater) [John Petrucci](/source/John_Petrucci), [Mike Portnoy](/source/Mike_Portnoy), [Derek Sherinian](/source/Derek_Sherinian) and [Jordan Rudess](/source/Jordan_Rudess). He plays [Music Man](/source/Music_Man_(company)) [bass guitars](/source/Bass_guitars), among them the "Grilver" and "StingRay 5 five-string" but has mainly switched to their "Bongo" line (which he was instrumental in helping develop) including four- and five-string fretted and fretless models. From March 2006 to September 2006, he toured with [Joe Satriani](/source/Joe_Satriani) on the [Super Colossal](/source/Super_Colossal) tour.[1] Most recently, LaRue became a member of the supergroup [Flying Colors](/source/Flying_Colors_(band)) alongside long-time bandmate Steve Morse.[2]
