**David Glyndwr Dear** (born 8 June 1946 in [Southampton](/source/Southampton)) is a British former [100 metres](/source/100_metres) [sprinter](/source/Sprint_(running)).

## Athletics career

He competed in the [1972 Summer Olympics](/source/1972_Summer_Olympics).[1]

He represented the [1966 England team](/source/England_at_the_1966_British_Empire_and_Commonwealth_Games)[2] in the sprint events, at the [1966 British Empire and Commonwealth Games](/source/1966_British_Empire_and_Commonwealth_Games) in [Kingston](/source/Kingston%2C_Jamaica), [Jamaica](/source/Jamaica).[3][4]

Four years later he won a [bronze medal](/source/Bronze_medal) at the [1970 British Commonwealth Games](/source/1970_British_Commonwealth_Games), in [Edinburgh](/source/Edinburgh), Scotland.[5][6][7]
